Our responsibility as Muslims is to help our new sisters and brothers learn the basics of the faith. We should encourage and support new Muslims to become strong, positive, and knowledgeable members of the community. We must do our best to ensure they receive sound and authentic knowledge, in order to make a positive contribution to our faith and country.
The Muslim Education and Converts Center of America (M.E.C.C.A.) was founded in 2006 with the intention of providing educational and support services to both the Muslim and non-Muslim community, with a special focus on new converts to Islam. |

A talk with Sh. Samer an Nass. May 31, 2008
New Muslims are often bombarded with rules that are not always presented to them in the most desirable manner. Their experiences with the larger Muslim community are not always as pleasant as they should be. Some take it upon themselves to judge others, overlooking the quintessential significance of Rahmah i.e. Mercy in Islam. Shaykh Samer will discuss the importance of treating each other with kindness while quoting examples from the Prophetic tradition. He will explain why being merciful is an imperative part of having good character in Islam, and how this can bring us closer to Allah swt. He will also speak about the status of our dear Prophet, what it means to love him (Allah bless him and give him peace), and what is the correct way to go about it.
